Coronavirus: How to buy some time before an outbreak?

Considering how coronavirus is already an outbreak in some of the developed countries, remember that Pakistan is still very vulnerable if the virus does go viral here and remember that our country is in no position to control such an outbreak with the medical infrastructure that we have.

The government’s decisions yesterday are just the right steps for the prevention of an outbreak and I’m glad that an event like PSL is taking measures immediately.

But as I see it, our society’s attitude towards taking precautions is not at all serious and if we do not act now, it’s just a matter of days before things go out of hand.

Hence, I repeat what you might’ve heard already and I expect all influencers and celebrities to play their part and educate people about this as well:

The only way to prevent this is to start SOCIAL DISTANCING today. Not tomorrow but today. That means keeping yourself at home as much as possible and asking everyone around you to do the same.

This won’t stop the virus from spreading but it will hopefully avoid an outbreak, buy us some time to prepare, and help not push our hospitals to breaking point.

Furthermore, I encourage everyone to read the exceptionally good article by Tomas Pueyo at the end of this thread and learn from data from around the world:

“You might have fears today: What if I overreact? Will people laugh at me? Will they be angry at me? Will I look stupid? Won’t it be better to wait for others to take steps first? Will I hurt the economy too much?

But in 2–4 weeks, when the entire world is in lockdown, when the few precious days of social distancing you will have enabled will have saved lives, people won’t criticize you anymore: They will thank you for making the right decision.”

Stay safe everyone! 🌻
